Everyone desires peace. You too can practice peace, and apply it to yourself and to others in your immediate surroundings. Discover your first step to peace and then share your experience with others. ‘Peace in the Park’ is a peace festival where visitors can meet in relaxed harmony. ‘Peace in the Park’ inspires citizens of The Hague to contemplate their personal relationship with peace and then practice it. Take inspiration from story time, tête-à- tête, music and a variety of other activities for young and old alike. The festival encourages small inner change, rewarding not only for your own personal life, but also for those in your immediate surroundings. What will you contribute to personal peace? On sunday the 24th of September 2017 you are welcome to join us in the Palace Garden from 12.00 till 17.00hrs; entrance is free.
Living in Peace
The Talktent is where conversations, interviews and presentations take place. The Talktent is an open tent where visitors can easily walk in and out. Interested visitors can participate actively. The talks are facilitated by artist and entrepreneur Bruno van den Elshout. From a perspective of art –and research projects, Bruno invites people, ideas and worlds to meet.
Tim ’s Jongers serves as the Co-ordinator of the Knowledge centre with PEP Den Haag and is also attached to the college of city dynamics at the Hogeschool In Holland, Rotterdam. He is involved in both institutes in studies that address societal diversity.
Tim’s academic background is political sciences and management. From the perspective of political science, Tim considers himself to be a ‘realistic’ pacifist.

Kelly Buis is one of the twelve One Young World Ambassadors for the Municipality of The Hague. One Young World is a UK-based charity which serves as a platform for young leaders from all over the world to gather and contribute to positive change with regard to the pressing issues the world is facing. This year’s summit will be held from 4 to 7 October in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2018, the summit will be organised in The Hague: the city of Peace and Justice. Kelly graduated with a MA in Conflict Studies and International Relations. Being particularly interested in the Middle East, she conducted field research in Lebanon on the effects of local reconciliation initiatives on the participating youth.
“I believe making the world a more peaceful place starts in our own local communities by making the societies we live in more inclusive. I also believe in the power of dialogue. Only through meeting the other, asking questions and sharing perspectives, we can challenge the stereotypes, prejudices and images we have of “the other”. Also in The Hague, known for its Sand (Zand) versus Peat (Veen) divide, a lot is to be gained by overcoming the invisible barriers that separate neighbourhoods and, thus, people.”
Workshop Celebrate Peace, Move and Dance
A dance movement improvisation workshop to experience, express and share Stilness, Joy and Strength. By Louise Klaverweide. Time: 13:30 – 14:00 pm
‘Peace in the Park’ celebrates its fourth annual event; its organization and events are all run by volunteers. Our aim and objective for this festival is to bring together people from a variety of backgrounds and places to meet and exchange thoughts, ideas and practical experience concerning peace, to foster a setting of connectedness and last but not least to discover what you can do yourself, as the first tiny step.
